NECA's 2011 national awards for outstanding industry leaders were recognized at the October 25th Closing General Session of NECA's 2011 National Convention in San Diego. Click on the award name below to learn more about this year's award winners:
The Coggeshall Award
NECA's 2011
Coggeshall Award winner, Wayne Brinkmeyer, has similarly contributed to refining the Code for
a long-time; 2012 will be his 25th year on NECA's National Codes & Standards Committee and on the National Fire Protection Associations NEC
Code-Making Panels (CMPs). In addition to his leadership as chairman to a number of CMPs, he has expended extra effort serving on special task groups
dedicated to keeping the NEC up to date with changing technologies and techniques.

The Comstock Award
NECA's 2011
Comstock Award winner, John R. Colson, values NECA's labor relations and political activities.
He is most noted for his role in developing new labor agreements focused on making NECA/IBEW line contractors the electrical utilities' first
choice - whether responding to disaster or tackling non-emergency transmission work.Read More
The McGraw Award
NECA's 2011
McGraw Award winner, Daniel F. Palmer, CEO of Tri-City Electric in Davenport, Iowa. The company is
a nationally-ranked Top 100 electrical contractor and has established itself as one of the Midwest's premiere specialty contractors. Palmer is
also a past vice president and president and current governor of the Quad-Cities Chapter of NECA.

The Association Executive Distinguished Service Award
NECA's 2011
Association Executive Distinguished Service Award winner, Dr. Danal W. Neal, holds a Ph.D in
Technological Education, Labor Relations and Labor Economics from the University of Tennessee. It has served him well - and has benefitted our
association and industry — as he has long contributed as both an educator and a first-rate manager of NECA-IBEW labor relations. Read More
The Membership Recruitment and Retention Award
The Membership Recruitment and Retention Award was established in 1988 by NECA's national staff to recognize the chapter manager who has done the best job of recruiting eligible members while retaining the existing members during the previous calendar year. However, in consideration of the unusual economic conditions that complicated recruitment in 2010, the award was presented to NECA Field Representative William H. "Biff" Jones, III in honor of his outstanding efforts to build and maintain membership throughout NECA's Eastern Region.
The 2011 Membership Recruitment Award will be awarded in Feburary 2012.
The Wendt Award
NECA's 2011
Wendt Award winner, Thomas F. Curran, has been a tireless leader for ELECTRI International
since 2001 when he first joined the ELECTRI Council. His company, Red Top Electric, was the first NECA member company from the Northern
California Chapter to make a commitment to the Foundation. Read More
Industry Partner Award
NECA's 2011
Industry Partner winner, Robert M. Gasperow has earned this recognition on the basis of the benefits,
both direct and indirect, that our association has gained due to his work with the Construction Labor Research Council.

Association Executive Institute
The 2011 Chairman was Steve Chesley, Executive Manager of NECA's Quad Cities Chapter, who was elected at AEI in San Diego. The Association Executives Institute is an informal, educational organization, which meets annually, usually in March, in the convention city. The first Institute was held in Pittsburgh in July, 1939. Each person employed in an executive or administrative capacity by a NECA chapter, the National Association, including the NJATC and NEBF shall be a member. The Chairman is elected annually by the majority vote of the members present and shall serve until his successor is elected.
