Eye on the Future: Visions, Challenges, and Trends in Electrical Contracting

Published:
2002
Description:
This publication is a combination of two reports: Electrical Contracting 2010; A Visioning Process, by Dr. Charlie Helliwell of MIT; and Key Trends and Challenges for the Future of Electrical Contracting, by Atul Dighe of the Institute for Alternative Futures. Among the objectives was to prepare scenarios on how the electrical contracting industry might be organized in the year 2010 and how contractors might operate in the Information Age economy that is envisioned to exist at that time. This report also introduces three new trends representing huge opportunities for the industry: micropower, smart electric grid, and the survellience society. This report provides the basic concept and structure of how to position yourself in order to gain full advantage of upcoming technologies and trends in the industry.
