Wesley L. Wheeler, NECA's Director of Safety, has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh to serve on the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health. This is the second time he has been appointed to this OSHA committee, where he joins 14 other individuals representing all corners of the construction industry.
The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health provides advice and assistance to the assistant secretary on occupational safety and health in construction standards. Members will serve two-year terms and represent the interests of the public, employers, employees, and state and federal government. The committee generally meets two to four times a year. Wheeler will be representing employers.
"It has been an honor to represent NECA and construction employers for the last two years on the OSHA Advisory Committee for Construction Safety and Health," Wheeler said. "Being able to work with OSHA and our trade association partners from labor to review potential regulations and issues affecting safety in construction industry allows all of us to be there and assist OSHA in developing meaning regulations and guidance without creating undue burdens that could cripple the construction industry. I am also honored that Secretary Walsh and OSHA has selected me to continue to represent NECA and construction employers for another two year term on the OSHA ACCSH committee.”
